Singapore Flyer with the Elderly on Easter!

I'm glad that this Easter I didn't had to fret bout not attending multiple services, not inviting enough people to church, or feel responsible for empty seats and a lack of new friends saved! I am finally free from this annual commitment after 7 years!

Thankfully, in this new year, in this new decade, everything starts afresh.

This Easter morning was spent bringing some elderly who stay in one-room flats at Kim Tian Place to the Singapore Flyer! Peeps from LifeUnited, Clement, Carlos, Xue Er and whoever I left out actually went to knock on their doors one by last week to invite them! Respect!


I believe they'll all taking a ride on the iconic structure for the 1st time!

The Journey of Dreams begins!

After a short walk through the exhibition, it's time to take the a-dollar-per-minute ride!

One of the proudest achievements of the incumbent... Also, one of the markers in which they have deemed themselves to be successful leaders of Singapore. Do Singaporeans at large feel the same way?

Personally, I am a little disillusioned with the Singaporean way of life, with the ideology that "if you study hard, you will eventually get a good job and if you work hard, one day you will be successful" that we are all too familiar with since we were kids in school.  Yet on the other hand, I know that Singapore wouldn't be the stable and safe First World nation that we are today without the immense vision of our leaders. So I'm really confused as to who to vote for in the meantime! The easiest way out is to draw a turtle on my polling card come Election Day, haha! *Disclaimer: This is just a joke!*

After enjoying the scenery in the quick 30 mins ride, we brought the elderly to the Singapore Food Trail food court where we served them the catered nasi lemak.

The drink stall sells drinks that comes in old school glass bottles with metal caps and how very coincidentally I needed the latter for a design of a wall panel at LifeUnited's new church venue!

And of course, Lady Wen being Lady Wen, I unabashedly asked the staff at the drink stall to give me all the metal caps that they had twice in 2 rounds of collecting! =D Hiak hiak hiak.

The excursion today made me realize that blessing the community or the elderly in this instance can be as simple as buying them a meal and bringing them to visit a place. It's not a lot of hassle and one doesn't have to spend a bomb!

What I liked about this community project is that it is purely voluntary and whoever is interested can just sign up for it. There was no obligations and no fuss about it. And it is so unlike what I was used to doing during the Easter season. And I'm loving it.

We didn't just had one big service, boom and went on to the next but Pst Darren had intentionally slowed things down and we talked about Jesus and the cross for 4 weeks in lieu of Easter. We had the Holy Communion every week and even actual unleavened bread and red wine in the last! We were also welcomed to bring the elements home and could partake of it it in the privacy of our own home whenever we prefer. No more autopilot mode!



I had a deeper understanding of the Cross and the significance of the Holy Communion which I feel is so much more meaningful than the hullabaloo that I've been exposed to every time this year. How very liberating.

Hehehehehe. She believed me!!! Couldn't stop laughing to myself! Ms. J even tried to call my "hubby" to verify but thank heavens he was in a meeting! She even smsed to say she wanted to be my bridesmaid!! It's amazing how many of my female friends want to be my bridesmaid and and even a male friend haha!! At this rate, I would have to hold an audition for it!


I had so much fun being married for a day. Can you imagine when I really do get married!? You girls didn't really think I was ever gonna ROM without first announcing it to the whole world, did you!? =D 

Just remember, Power 98 and Reinald started it first! Not me! Hehe! =p But if you're still pissed/feel cheated/dun think it's funny or whatever, watch this video! Confirm won't be upset anymore! *winks winks*

HAPPY APRIL'S FOOL DAY EVERYONE!! You wouldn't believe the number of times I literally ROFL!! My first ever major April Fool's prank in my life was a success. Hope you had as much fun as I did! =p

The Time Has Come for Those Who Are Different… to Stand United! :)

On the 1^st day of 2011, I think at around 5.50 pm, He said to me, “I am going to bless you. Get ready for it.”

What followed were days of being ill, not being able to sleep properly cos my brain was running non-stop, crying, being frustrated with myself & some around me, laughing, teasing pple and getting teased at, talking to friends and leaders, being in denial, pacing up and down my house, staring out of the window, looking up at the sky to see no stars, enjoying Hillsong Chapel & being healed emotionally, resting, recovering, to finally... having peace and enlightenment! ^_^ v

Wisdom From A Friend

I was quite troubled about this initially. The tell tale sign was this tweet:


 

I had many questions but I felt that I wouldn’t be given straight answers in it’s entire truth even if I asked the right people with the answers. At least not yet. “The less you know the better” statement is blurgh. Just gimme truth.


Curiosity killed the cat, and perhaps even Adam and Eve, but not Wendy. I have learned about many things throughout my life, thanks to an insatiable desire to find answers via asking questions.


If these questions were affecting me so much, I knew it meant that I had to figure it out and find closure before I could move on.


I instinctively sms-ed a particular friend for help because he’s smart max & he didn’t fail to impress at all! His words were so edifying to me, I want to blog it down! And just in case you’re struggling with the same issue too, this might help.



All names censored for their protection. I’ve come to learn this skill in an extremely painful and hard way… But better learned now then never! 




Words in white are his. Emphasis, paragraphing, and words in black are mine. Here it goes!:

We cannot say that if things remained the same we wouldn’t have remained stagnated (or even become smaller) or that  __  wouldn’t have become a ______ (or might become if even earlier). In the end, __ made the most logical/spiritual decision available to him, and __ dealt with it in the most logical/spiritual way available.

Even if it was a “moment of weakness or misjudgment”, you and I know better than many that everyone is fallible – we all make mistakes. The only reason why we look at a __ or __ mistake (and think a lot about it) is cos they were in positions that killed more pple. LOL.

Still… You need to understand that as a leader or as an individual, our responsibility is the same: To make the decision we determine is best.

_____ is perhaps where the politics are the worst (although I’m slightly bitter in claiming this). Cos the ____ is where relationship is placed above results (although I heard that __ is a very results person), and guess what?

Isn’t politics a direct result of relationship? To be exact, politics is the manipulation of relationships. And in the gathering of imperfect people where relationship is the key to promotion/prestige, we make every decision equally from love or the other, and from love for ourselves.

 

In effect, unless you’re in heaven, a culture centered on relationship is also a culture that most breeds politics. [Hard for me to disagree with this. Especially when I did struggle in time past between the concept of excellence versus giving people a chance. Do still struggle with it once in a blue moon...]

This isn’t to say that __ __t cos of politics but let’s be mature and realistic and not see the ____ office as too awesome a place.

Still… in life things (beyond our control) happen that impact our lives. But the onus (aka responsibility) to reacting, managing, and overcoming it is YOURS. And it is when you understand the ability to contain these changes that you can bring blessings to others. [WOW!]

He sent me all these long smses with wise words in the span of an hour while he was attending service and he could still pay attention to and absorb the message being shared! Awesome right? :)


Now whoever said you can’t counsel someone over sms? :) Just need some patience and skill! And a willingness to spend a few more cents on sms! Haha. Now that’s what I call great leadership! Quick and effective! Okay la, he is gifted in counseling so I shall give others a discount. :)



P.S: I am now 70% sure of the 2nd more impt decision of my life that I have re-considered. The question is I dunno for how long I will keep to my decision. I’m keeping an open mind and a never-say-never stance! \m/



Okay, this is completely no link to what I shared: Justin Bieber’s movie bout his life and rise to fame, Never Say Never is out in cinemas this Feb! All you Justin Bieber haters should watch it! HAHA. Then perhaps u’ll have a chance of becoming lovers! Stop screaming in agony!!! =p

P.P.S: I’m not a fan, I just think it’s really great that someone as young as him can be using his talent to be a blessing to people. Inspiring! He’s a good kid (though I must add that he’s very mature for his age. I know, cos I follow him on Twitter). Peace out!

Next Year, To Save Me From Tears, I’ll Give It to Someone Special…

An incident happened on Xmas eve that caused me to 胡思乱想 (have weird ideas) that I have a curse on special occasions! Once bitten, twice shy. Twice bitten? But I know it isn’t true, don’t worry.


This entry however, is not to share my current pain/concerns but to thank God for my wonderful friends who make my life so happening and worth living for in spite of it all! I’m determined to be strong and not let my emotions crush me because that is so yesterday.

1st highlight of Xmas this year was…

Tada! Caroling to the patients at Singapore General Hospital on 17 Dec.

Initially I was quite hesitant to participate as I thought to myself… Will singing carols really make a significant difference? Will that 5 hours of practice for like half an hour’s worth of performance be worth my time?


But the more we sang and the more I saw the smiles on the audience’ faces and hear their applause, the more I realize it was worth it. I wasn’t wasting my time!


Am grateful for the opportunity to serve the community in a little way. We all have to start somewhere.

Performing for the residents & their guests at the Sky Park! 57th floor or something!

Standing at the edge, soaking in the the surreal atmosphere & enjoying the breeze brought much needed serenity to my soul…

I had a lot of fun hanging out with fellow carolers at practices becos they’re all such fun-loving, hilarious and talented people. :)

Maybe one day I might own a unit at Blk 1G of The Pinnacle @Duxton?

It costs at least half a million dollars I think? Ching ching. Location & design is great but not much facilities/food within walking distance!

Next up, my dearest friends & I had a Back To School Partaay on the eve of Xmas eve! =D

That plate of sushi you see cost me ten bucks! *heart pain* My fave food was the plate of crackers with cheese dip that Debbie bought from Cold Storage (center). Damn gd!

WAX even made “Peking Duck” roll (top right). Of course, I must not forget to thank the class monitress’ maid for cooking the spaghetti & curry chicken for us! =D

We played Charades where each wrote a phrase that describes him/herself and we had to act it out & guess who owned it! Some called themselves dunno what flower one I cannot remb!

I wear short skirts she wears t-shirts! =p	Oh the boys who like to walk around in their PE attire after soccer/basketball and what nots. =p

Giving out of report cards for our performance this year! *Panic mode*	In came Ms. Teo dressed up like one of us becos she is awesome like that! Say boo to boring teachers!

As usual, thanks to my sir name I am register no. 1! And my classmates simply had to tease me by saying my full name out LOUD. *cringes*

I got 3 A*s for Winsome-ness, Outgoing-Factor & Bubbly-ness and here’s the very kind remarks Ms. Teo gave:

Wendy is a girl who is never afraid to voice her opinions in class and is very willing to be the voice for her classmates. A highly winsome person, she has friends even out of class that she has positively influenced. She is strongly passionate and will not fail to act on what she believes in, and this is what will bring her far in life.

I hope so Ms. Teo. I really really hope so... So unbelievably tired of being shot down & misunderstood during times when I’m just really passionate bout what I believe in.…

Has WAX been naughty or nice?

When I realized that every single person got 3 A*s, I was like, " I WANT A BELL CURVE!!!!" I am Rachel Berry ttm (to the max) and nobody likes me, I mean her even though I really admire her character in the show!! =D I'm only talking about Glee, the coolest drama series in the world.

We gave Ms. Teo an autograph book writing our faves & hates and a poem or msg, pri school style! Yes think "Roses are red, violets are blue..." We all told her how much we love her & how we’ve been blessed by her teaching! :)

She looks way cuter than me. And since when am I taller than her!? I must have grown through 4 years of HIGH school!

25th Dec came!! Went to church for the 1pm Christmas service! :) 
 

We Feliz Navida-ed & messed up each other’s hair during the woo part! And even used our own shaker to join in the music! Hohoho. (I guess we were simply bored that every year it’s always the same songs! Oops.)


The drama production, 'Heroes of Faith Academy', was a tear-jerker. Could super relate to Veroy Potter but ended up was the person on my left and right crying! Hehe.
 

Then we headed to Bugis Junction’s Ministry of Food for our late lunch!

They’re so pretty. :)

I vehemently objected to MOF initially cos I had a very bad experience when Aaron and I were there a few days before. The servers kept bringing other customers’ orders to our table and the rice of the Bento I ordered tasted like crap.
 


I even came down with a very sore throat immediately after! Downed lots & lots of water, Ribena and Woods Peppermint cough syrup before it went away!

  But thank God I ordered the right food this time! Their chicken ramen is gd! $12+.

Their service was slow as usual despite the fact that the restaurant was barely half full?

3 of them had high tea buffet(4 to 6pm, $20). And I just had to put this photo!

Vic said it’s the "ahhh the food so good" face! Lmao.

Santarina gave us liqueur chocs!

Then Vann & I quickly zipped to Marina Bay Sands! It was all impromtu. Thank you gf for inviting me, u’re my savior!

They also had all sorts of sashimi there. Service was superb. Go there to find out! :) Sadly I couldn’t each much cos I was still very full from the ramen!

There was a bath tub in the huge ass toilet! =0 And I had to do this!

The toilet was so huge the mirror in it can fit all our reflections. See the 2 doors behind us? One’s a WC and the other a shower! And there’s 2 basins! I want my future toilet to be like that! Don’t have to fight over using the toilet ever! =D

We went to the club just to see what it’s like. Saw some Caucasians drinking... nothin’ much! The most expensive bottle on the menu was $2k plus! Siao siao. Entrance fee after 9pm was $108 that night. Only for the rich & wasteful.
 

While Vann’s parents were sleeping, we sat right outside the hotel room door along the corridor and had a HTHT (heart to heart talk) till 2am! Unforgettable. <3

Heaven is a place on earth when true friends stick by you through thick & thin.

Boxing Day came! Woke up in the morning feeling like P.Diddy & brushed our teeth with a bottle of Jack!

 

Nooo… we woke up at 7+ feeling like ourselves & headed to the Infinity Pool! (I like Tik Tok but I dislike Ke$ha, random!)

Only realized that there's warm jacuzzis at my 2nd visit!

Later that evening, I made a thousand bucks for about six hours of work. Best Xmas present ever. God is good to me! :) I'll never be able to understand why anyone would simply choose to walk away from Him especially after all that He has done for them.
