Russian woman's 12th baby weighs in at 7.75 kg

A Siberian woman who gave birth to her 12th child -- doing more than her fair share to stem Russia's population decline -- was stunned to find that little Nadia weighed in at a massive 7.75 kg (17.1 lb).

Nadia was delivered by caesarean section in the local maternity hospital in the Altai region on September 17, joining eight sisters and three brothers, a local reporter said.

"We were all simply in shock," said Nadia's mother, Tatyana Barabanova, 43. "What did the father say? He couldn't say a thing -- he just stood there blinking."

"I ate everything, we don't have the money for special foods so I just ate potatoes, noodles and tomatoes," she told the reporter, adding that all her previous babies had weighed more than 5 kg.

The Guinness World Records lists a 10.2 kg baby boy born in Italy in 1955, and a 10.8 kg baby boy who was born in the United States in 1879 but died 11 hours later.

The average weight for most healthy newborn babies is around 3.2 kg (7.06 lb), according to World Health Organisation figures.

And I thought I was heavy being born at 4.2 kg, 19 years and 11 months ago today. =D

Accepted into Student Council!

My school, MDIS, is forming its pioneer batch of Student Council. I applied and went for the interview yesterday.

And I just received this email from MY Exco members: =) =)

Congratulations! On behalf of the MDIS Student Council 2007, we welcome you aboard as a UniRep. We believe that you will be an asset to the team and help the Student Council succeed in advancing its goals.As you understand from the interview, we'll be having lots of activities in the upcoming months. In October, we will be creating lead ups to the Student Council ExCo which will happen in November. In December, we are planning to have a major Student Bash, an event that will most likely be held outside the MDIS campus and will involve hundreds of students.

I really hope that she will take good care of herself & not end up like Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan! (for the uniformed, Britney & Lindsay had to go rehab for taking drugs. And the latter is charged for drink-driving, not once but twice!)

Kill the Ugly Side

Well, I wouldn't exactly say that I had a great day today. First of all, Agnes, my 'O' Level student chased me out of her house 45 mins into tuition citing, "I got no mood to study". At night, my Pri 1 student, Gabriel, threw a tantrum for no apparent reason, kicked (literally kicked me!), shouted and yelled "I don't want to do!" time and time again. But thankfully, he finally cooled down after 35 mins. Gosh, thank God it was 35 mins and not an hour!

Later, his sweet side appeared and I finally saw smiles on his face. Gabriel is really a cute, handsome and smart boy you know? Despite his bad behaviors and all... He's studying in Pei Hua Pri School, one of the top pri schs in Singapore. He has an absolute love for animals and he knows more about them than I do and he is only 7 years old! He told me about the Mandrill,a species of monkeys, of which the female Mandrills will look for the male that is the brightest in color (it actually signifies strength) to mate. He also plays the piano well and has a thirst for knowledge. Sometimes, he would very sweetly give me a hug before I leave...

Thinking about Gabriel led me to think about how every single person, no matter how many weaknesses, character flaws, bad attitudes one may have, therein lies a beautiful person - a person with every ability to be good, to do good, with strengths and capabilities, to be a blessing to the people around. The ugly side however, is what some people will choose to show. Truth be told, I hate the ugly side of humanity. Sometimes when I witness my ugly side, I go: '' Oh my gosh, just what do you think you're doing!? " The ugly side should really not surface because when it does, damages are usually done to the people around. Instead, we should all let that nice, beautiful person come out. Kill the ugly side I say, bury it, and don't allow it to see the light of day because when it does, it actually destroys another and may in turn lead to them manifesting their ugliness and the cycle continues.

What a happy,beautiful world we'll be living in, if only people would be more considerate of how their words, actions and attitudes will affect the people around.

She's the actress who acted as Fann Wong's mother in Just Follow Law. Can u believe it!? I think she is probably in her 50s or 60s and she blogs! In English! *Gapes* Amazing! And her blog has won awards like Best of Blogs May, June, etc! Haha. I think it'll be really cool if I blog when I'm still a grandmother. My grandchildren would love me. Lol.

I'm going for a trial work out session at Slender Shapes later. Wonder how it'll turn out. Then it's off to tutoring 4 students back to back from 3.30 to 9.30pm. :)

Gone

Sun has a new song, Gone. It is a soothing ballad that really reached out to me the first time I heard it . It's about how someone you hold dear to walks away no matter what you could have done because in their heart, they've already made the decision to leave.

A few people whom I treasured have walked out of my life and of course when it happened, it broke my heart. But like the song says, "Even if I cry, you'll still be gone". It didn't matter to them how I would have felt when they left because they didn't think about how leaving would devastate me. Even if they did, they still left anyway...

I've long decided to be a committed and loyal person and friend. Never will I walk away. Like the way Rihanna puts it in Umbrella, "I'mma stick it out till the end".

My 1st Teacher's Day Present
