Money Never Sleeps, So Does My Blog and the World We Live in!

I was super restless during the 1st half of service today so I Twitter spammed to keep myself entertained and on my seat. Thankfully it got so much better towards the end! Cheers to more of ARB and double P! :)

You know, I can’t help but constantly feel a pressure to perform, to be the best, to be the head and not the tail, to be the top, to win.

I think it's largely attributed to the fact that I live in Singapore, one of the most advanced and fast-paced cities in the world. But perhaps, it’s just me.

I expect a lot from myself. I’m naturally a highly competitive person who loves to win. It is especially reflected in the way I play games, be it Monopoly Deal, Volleyball or whatever, I just love to win and hate to lose!

And of course, not forgetting the fact that I’m a Christian, and like what Dr. AR Bernard said today, I have a responsibility not to let darkness triumph, and to let my light shine and be a positive influence to society.

Pressure from society, pressure from self, pressure from community and definitely not forgetting pressure, spoken or unspoken, from family… It will just about cripple anyone in the right mind!

So I’m really thankful that I have God, because He helps me to carry the heavy burdens that I can’t carry myself. Yeah, call me weak and whatever, but I just know there is so much I need to accomplish in this lifetime but I am too limited in many ways that it would be rather impossible to do ALL that I’m meant and supposed to do in this lifetime just by my human strength alone.

Well, maybe I can achieve a grade ‘A’ in life on my own, since after all, God did actually say that human beings have such strong will power that they can achieve all that they want as seen from the Tower of Babel. But with God, I probably can achieve A+++ to the power of infinity. Anyone in the right mind would choose the latter! :)

So I’m learning through all the drought and seemingly endless days of waiting in my life right now to trust in God, that my big big leader up there has a great plan installed for me and that I just have to be patient to take things one step a time (though I really wanna take 10!!) and not fret! :)

He’s gonna do a great work in me, let’s all wait and see! No I’m not conceited, I’m just confident of His power and His call upon my life. And it takes courage to say that! Can you imagine if my life turned out to be a big flop when I announced to the world that it’s gonna turn out great? =D

So why am I saying all this and what has it got to do with the title of my blog!? Well, I just watched Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps and it’s kinda reflective of the pressure from a ever-demanding world with so many things to achieve and seemingly unless material goods to obtain.

Thanks to Gopal who smsed me during service to tell me bout the complimentary tics he had! Can’t say no to impromptu (means exciting, fun & NOT boring) free stuff! =D

I won’t spoil it for those who haven watched it but it’s a really brilliant movie filled with unexpected twists, intelligent dialogue and artistic camera angles! Definitely worth the money. I even teared watching two scenes!! Sentimental bitch person I am, can’t help it!

It’s about the greed of human beings that caused the Wall Street meltdown and financial crisis in 2008 that experts said that the world had not witnessed since the days of the Great Depression!

If anything is for sure, it’s that America’s movie industry will never collapse, at least not imho! Cos no other country in the world can beat their pure ingenuity when it comes to entertainment. Not Bollywood, not China and definitely not Europe (London, u needa catch up!). Hmmm, when I have the money I should invest in American production companies if that is even possible!

Anyway to digress a little, Michael Douglas, the old man in the movie poster, is having stage 4 throat cancer. Hopefully he’ll survive it! If u' re clueless bout Michael Douglas like I am... I found out that he's married to Catherine Zeta Jones, who is 25 years her junior!

Can you imagine being so hot and marrying a man who is older than yr father? Well, she did and have been married for 10 years now with 2 kids! All things really are possible huh!?

Jamie gladly accompanied me to watch the movie even though she was supposed to meet her bf! *Feels honored* We had a good chat about work life on our way back and it’s kinda therapeutic in some way!

When I became a working adult in July last year, it sometimes felt lonely cos like 90% of my cg members are still students so there were moments when I felt that it’ll be difficult to be on the same page and to click.

But now that Jamie is official a working adult on her first full time job, it’s so liberating! We talk to each other about it and it’s so refreshing and I no longer feel alone. Yes, I’m a highly sentimental person, what to do.

So money needs to be earned, the world will keep spinning and my blog will be available 24/7 even when I’m asleep!

So… cheers to a great future dear blog readers! We got to believe it no matter how bleak this post- 2008-financial-crisis-world may seem, we’re all in the same boat so it’s still not that bad comparatively!

It’s a challenging time I must say for my generation, especially us university students who just graduated last & this year what with the lousy job market now, but the best is yet to be cos we ARE the future.

10, 20 years from now in 2020,2030? I think we’ll so be rocking the world & making it awesome... we’ll be living in a time with the highest percentage of educated people in world history? Imagine that!

Btw, it’s my cg leader’s birthday today! So here’s a shout out to the birthday girl who is celebrating her first birthday as a married woman! Does it feel different and extra special I wonder??

She's getting more and more pretty with time! Her skin's like so good!

Anyway Zoe, if u asked me, I think what sets you apart from other DT leaders is that you have the ability to impart unto the ladies how to beautify themselves & become more demure and gorgeous which although is surfacial (i just invented the word) is really important since the bible says that people look at outward appearances! That I definitely can't learn from Justin and you know who! Hehehe.

Also, you are a great boy-girl-relationship advice giver. Those moments when you helped me in my R/S were most memorable. These are two areas that I am most impacted by you in! :)

Also I love your cool, calm and contemplative side though there are moments when I wished u'll be more RAHHHH (a.k.a assertive/aggressive) but I've since learnt and am continuing to learn to accept you for you & not as the image of an ideal leader I picture in my mind. :))))

Baby, baby, baby, Oh! Time for a baby, baby, baby! Hehehe.

Thanks for everything Zoe! :) <3 you!

P.S: Listen closely to the lyrics of the songs playing in the Wall Street movie! “The wheel keeps spinning”! Love how it fits the theme so perfectly! Anyway Gopal, u said u wanted to meet me but we didn't even meet though we in the same theatre! How lame of you! =p Haha but really thanks, the movie was awesome! :)
