Even popular food blogs like ieatishootipost and ladyironchef have yet to review this cafe/restaurant so I’m honored to beat them to it! Hahaha! Just give this
Aiya, can't remove the ugly black border. |
Strictly Pancakes, Singapore’s 1st dedicated pancake cafe opened its doors on 19 Sept 2010 at 44A Prinsep Street!
It’s two buildings away from Hotel Rendezvous & across the road from POMO shopping centre. No clue where that is? It’s a stone throw away from SMU and School of the Arts (SOTA). STILL DUNNO WHERE? I’VE GOT NUTHIN’ TO SAY!
My big group of friends and I (>10) eagerly went to Strictly Pancakes both on opening day & on 10 Oct with the anticipation of celebrating birthdays there but were turned away on both occasions due to a full house and understaffed kitchen! U can imagine my initial disappointment!
However, when I finally got to try the pancakes on 12 Oct, I was hooked! I have since dined at the cafe not once, but 3 times in 3 weeks! =D
Introducing my fave thus far…
Beef Me Up! $14.
It is super delicious! A must try, especially for beef lovers! I shall tantalize u with a close-up shot!
Tada! Super thick juicy home-made beef patty,
extra-thick pancakes with sauteed mushrooms and Arigula salad.
Serves only one! Don’t bother sharing this cos u’ll end up fighting over it! I gobbled up like 3 quarters of it even though I was supposed to share it with Aaron! =p
Their business is really good even though they have not done any form of advertising so u can imagine how good their food must be! :) Word-of-mouth is powerful! Their pancakes were even sold out on opening day! Unreal!
To avoid disappointment, esp if u’re going with a big grp of friends, be sure to call them at 63334202 to make reservations!
Oh and students rejoice becos you get 10% discount when u flash yr student pass!
Hardworking Jamie sorting out some work stuff on her netbook!
She told me they painted the wall themselves with the use of stencil. So innovative and resourceful lor! *thumbs up*
I adjusted the contrast and brightness of that photo and I think it looks damn cool in comparison! Don’t believe me? I SHOW U!
Adeline, the VIP of the day was wearing uber cool clothes from her recent Hong Kong trip. Quite gaga-ish with shoulder pads and studs! I dunno why I forgot to take pics of her! *smacks forehead*
Here’s what we ordered!
Smoked Salmon topped with Dill Sour-cream and a wedge of lemon. I didn’t eat much of it cos I’m not a fan of salmon! Adeline was hungry so she managed to finish the whole plate! Hehe.
The pancakes are very filling so I recommend two pple sharing a medium stake of 3!
The prawns were well-cooked but there was too much garlic for my liking.
I’ve also tried the The Druggie, $11 which is all chocolaty but no pics cos Aaron’s iPhone got reset and we lost ‘em! Choc lovers should definitely try it but be sure to share cos I think it’ll be too much for one person to take!
Their milkshakes are only $5 a glass, cheaper than those at Billy Bombers and Everything With Fries! I had a few sips of the Nutella Milkshake. Both Aaron and Adeline like it so I think it must be good! I prob was PMSing so badly I didn’t know how to appreciate it!
Found two other interesting blog reviews when I googled Strictly Pancakes!:

2. http://yumyumformytumtum.wordpress.com/2010/09/24/strictly-pancakes-all-day-pancake-cafe/
Their photos are like so much nicer than mine! Bleah.
One of the lady bosses, Eunice, Adeline’s NUS friend, started the business with her friend straight after graduation! She must be like only 22 years old! I really salute their entrepreneurial spirit!
How many uni students and fresh grads have dreamt about owning their own business and being their own boss and how many of those dreams have actually come to fruition!? Mine hasn’t! *pouts*
